Cecelia
Siemen Art Scholarship Winner 2007
The 2007
scholarship has been awarded by the Trustees’ Scholarship Committee to Corey D. Oberlander, a Cape Cod resident and
student at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. Corey’s teachers commend his intelligence,
ability, creativity, and passion for art. Corey writes that art, music, and athletics have been a major part of his
life. He has performed in two bands, played hockey and lacrosse, and received many honors and scholarships in art.
After he earns his undergraduate degree in Painting and Art History, he intends is to pursue a Masters Degree in Art History/Education.
Corey will be presented the scholarship at the Siemen Art Lecture. His works will be exhibited on the Art Wall in August.
The Cecelia Siemen Scholarship in the Visual Arts is made possible by Sven Siemen, who contributed the funds to establish
the award to honor his wife, who was a painter and art eacher.

ANNUAL ART LECTURE Local resident Sven Siemen made a generous donation to the library in the
1990’s. The funds are earmarked specifically for art resources and programs. Each year the interest on the original investment enables the library to purchase
materials which enrich our collections and services in the arts. The annual Siemen Lecture, hosted by the library in late spring, features an artist, art critic, or curator as guest
speaker. The lecture is offered free of charge to attendees. All interested in the arts are encouraged to attend. Watch the spring and summer issues of the newsletter
