Yarmouth Town Libraries Summer Reading Kick-off
On June 25, 2008 at 6:00pm
the Yarmouth Town Libraries kicked off the 2008 “Wild Reads at your library” Summer Reading Program. Over 160
enthusiastic participants swarmed to the South Yarmouth Library for a magnificent performance by Brett "Ooch" Outchcunis. Yo-Yos galore were flying and fun was had by all. Readers were informed how their
reading could help a local organization. This will be Yarmouth’s 4th community-based summer reading
program. We will be working to help the Dennis Yarmouth Ecumenical Council for the Prevention of Homelessness.
Visit any of the Yarmouth Town
Libraries for more information on how to participate in our reading program this summer.
We would like to thank our local sponsors,
Library Associations and Friends groups for their generosity and support of our 2008 Summer Reading Program!

NEW BOOKS TO CHECKOUT
The Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan
When the goddess Artemis
goes missing, she is believed to have been kidnapped. And now it's up to Percy and his friends to find out what happened. Who
is powerful enough to kidnap a goddess? They must find Artemis before the winter solstice, when her influence on the
Olympian Council could swing an important vote on the war with the titans. Not only that, but first Percy will have to solve
the mystery of a rare monster that Artemis was hunting when she disappeared -- a monster rumored to be so powerful it could
destroy Olympus forever.
Bebé goes to the beach by Susan Middleton Elya
Mama leaves the
shopping behind to spend a relaxing day at the beach. But sweet Bebe won't sit still! He toddles after the waves, chases a
bouncing pelota, and even surfs on a sand sculpture. When Bebé finally tuckers out, Mama gets her chance to
soak up el sol.
Mercy Watson : princess in disguise by Kate DiCamillo
When the Watsons
decide to zip their porcine wonder into a formfitting princess dress for Halloween — complete with tiara — they
are certain that Mercy will be beautiful beyond compare. Mercy is equally certain she likes the sound of trick-or-TREATING
and can picture those piles of buttered toast already. As for the Lincoln Sisters next door, how could they know that their
cat would get into the act and lead them all on a Halloween "parade" of hysterical
proportions? Kate DiCamillo’s beguiling pig is back in a tale full of treats, tricky turns, hijinks, and high humor.
Knick Knack Paddy Wack by Engle
Adapted
from the traditional folk song with the refrain with a knick-knack, paddy whack give a dog a bone, this old man came rolling
home, Barefoot s new version features a parade of children from different cultures, each of them playing a different musical
instrument.
