Volunteers are encouraged and needed to help in various capacities with the fundraising projects and to serve in leadership roles in both Associations. Please indicate your interest to get involved on your membership application or contact us by email at sylassoc@gmail.com or at wylassoc@gmail.com any time of the year.

Fundraising

The WYLA sends out an annual appeal letter, and has supported the Library with this community support for generations.

SYLA, which was formed in 1869 and established in the Agreement of Association dated April 4, 1908, is a volunteer non-profit organization with a simple mission: to promote and enhance the services of the South Yarmouth Library and to raise funds to provide materials and programs not covered in the library’s operating budget. It encourages gifts, including materials, endowments, bequests and other support.

In addition to collecting membership dues, the Associations raise funds in the following ways:

The Little Corner Book Store, located on the first floor of the South Yarmouth Library; open whenever the library is open.

Holiday Cookie Stroll and Open House -Updated

The trustees of the South Yarmouth Library Association have voted not to hold the Holiday Cookie Stroll this December 12, 2020, due to the ongoing concerns for COVID #19.

However, to continue the support this fund raiser provides each year to the library, we are working on a modified event to take its place. The front door or front yard of twelve homes will be decorated to represent one of the “12 Days of Christmas.” Participants will still be allowed to stroll the neighborhood, but the viewing will be from the sidewalk only.  Donations can be made at the library where a small program can be picked up with the addresses for each house.  The time has changed to 2-6:00 p.m. to take advantage of holiday lighting.

In closing, we appreciate your generosity and the many years of support. Circle the date December 12, 2-6:00 p.m. Bring your friends and family to the SYLA’s Twelve Days of Christmas Stroll in the lovely neighborhoods surrounding the library. Check back for updates later this fall.

We appreciate your many years of support and wish you all health and safety in these difficult times. Let’s all look forward to the next Holiday Cookie Stroll on December 11, 2021!

Thank you,

Margaret Howard & Lesley Callahan
